The Soque River Watershed
Association works
to protect and restore the Soque River, its tributaries and watershed.
The
Soque River watershed is the
"Heart of Habersham County." It is completely contained within Habersham
County in beautiful northeast Georgia and is the central geographic feature of the area. No other county
in Georgia possess a watershed the size of the Soque from its headwaters
to mouth.
The Soque River is a distinct
resource in the nation. Its location, size, geology and demographics
contribute to the quality of drinking water for millions downstream in
Georgia, Alabama and Florida. By protecting this local resource, the
citizens of Habersham County have a unique opportunity to be a model for watershed protection.
The Soque River Watershed Association (SRWA)
is a nonprofit, membership organization made up of individuals and
institutions interested in the preservation and protection of the Soque
River watershed. For information on becoming a member of or making a
donation to SRWA, visit
the support SRWA pages.
The Soque Bulletin is a bi-weekly email
from SRWA full of information about goings-on in the watershed. Keep
up to date by signing up
here.
Thanks!
