Greenway Garden - In October of 2009, the Soque River Watershed Association broke ground on the Greenway Garden, an organic community garden that features 26 plots for nearly 50 gardeners on 1/5 of an acre of beautiful bottomland soils. garden
mainstem Soque River - Clarkesville - The mainstem Soque River in Clarkesville becomes a wide, shallow, sandy-silt bottom floodplain with rich bottomlands flanking both sides. Long ago, Clarkesville was an Indian Settlement called Sakwiyi, and the native Indians farmed the bottoms because of their rich soil. From here south, the river is more characteristic of the rolling Piedmont Region.
Chastain Cascade - This beautiful and rarely seen cascade on Chastain Branch is located entirely on National Forest Lands where it merges into Raper Creek just upstream of the waterfall. Chastain Branch is known for its native brook trout population, its giant bedrock outcrops, and this remarkable cascade. chastain

The Confluence - The right and left forks of the Soque River converge at this special spot located just a few hundred yards from Batesville General in the Goshen Valley. The vast majority of the headwaters drain from near pristine National Forest Lands and the waters are cold, clear and brimming with trout. conflluence
glenmeadow Soque River - Glenmeadow - The mainstem Soque River upstream of Mark of the Potter exemplifies the lush evergreen streambank forest of hemlock, rhododendron, mountain laurel and dog hobble. This dense foliage is spectacular to the eye and exceptional in its ability to keep stream temperatures cold and holding streambanks in place with twisted, gnarled, deep roots.
The fabulous Sutton Mill was featured on the Soque River Watershed Association's Grist Mills and Mountain Streams Tour in April 2010 and again for the Soque Celebration on May 21, following the "5 in 5" Fundaiser. Photos by Randy Moser and Lane Gresham. sutton mill
